Evaluation of Success of a Project

Question: Project charter, which allowed you to define the project and give the project manager the ability to use organizational resources. Team contract, which defined the team member rules of engagement. Scope statement, which succinctly explains what the project will do and what it will not do. WBS, which clarifies each task that needs to be done to complete the project. Budget, which shows how resources will be expended. Risk matrix, which identifies project risks and possible mitigation strategies. Communication matrix, which identifies who the project stakeholders are and how they are best contacted. Schedule, which shows the timing of tasks through the project and the expected date of completion. Executive summary, which tells upper management briefly how the project will impact upon the organization. Answer: Evaluation of Success of a Project Various project management tools such as project charter, team contract, scope statement, budget, work breakdown structure (WBS), risk matrix and communication matrix have significant advantages to making the project plan systematic and comprehensive (Kerzner, 2013). In order to determine and evaluate project's success, the following criterion should be considered and monitored Desired Results are achieved: Before execution of the project, the team, project manager and clients have some expectations which can fulfill their needs (PMP, PMSA Meyer, 2015). This outcome helps to predict whether the project is effective or not. The project is finished within Budget and Time: most of the times, clients have limited time and money. Therefore, if any project does not take more money and time than the estimated timeline, then it is said to be successful (Kerzner, 2013). Customers are Satisfied: While processing with any projects, the entire team should ensure the fact that project outcome should be beneficial only to the organization but also meets clients' demands satisfactorily. Moreover, the organization should have an open and honest relationship with their clients to make the project highly successful (PMP, PMSA Meyer, 2015). If the clients are satisfied with project performance, that client will return to the organization. This defines that project is successful and highly beneficial for the organization as well as for the customers. With the above mentioned criterion, project manager should also consider two other approaches which are KPI (Key Performance Indicators) and variance analysis. Key performance indicators help to identify the current problems as well as future risks of the project. On the other hand, variance analysis helps to investigate the loopholes present in the project and examines the difference between planned and actual behavior. References Kerzner, H. R. Article review

Article review The article under consideration is written by Huston and Sakkab (2006). It dwells upon the application of a new model for innovation by one of the largest companies in the world Procter Gamble. The model is called connect and develop (CD).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Article review â€Å"Connect and Develop: Inside Procter Gambles New Model for Innovation† specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The authors compare the new model with the model largely used in 1980s ‘research and develop’ (RD). The RD model is proved to be less effective in the contemporary business environment (Huston Sakkab, 2006). The authors comment upon the peculiarities of the new model and provide some advice for the implementation of the new CD model. Huston and Sakkab (2006) point out that Procter Gamble first used the new model in 2002. The first product to be developed was a â€Å"line of Pringles potato crisps† which was launched in 2004 (Huston Sakkab, 2006, p.58). The company decided to find the necessary solutions outsides the company. The experience was very successful. Therefore, A.G. Lafley, CEO, decided to change the RD model into more appropriate and effective model for innovation. The authors state that the use of the new model led to the increase of innovation success rate whereas costs of innovation fell. Apart from providing good examples of the effectiveness of the new model, the authors give some advice. For instance, they note that it is important to determine the area of innovations. The company should determine the categories of products to be developed. When the categories are determined, it is possible to find institutions and individuals to collaborate with. The authors provide an effective pattern to determine areas of innovation: researching top 10 consumers’ needs, defining adjacencies and technology game boards. The authors also comment upon possible networ ks to use. Procter Gamble use propriety networks (technology entrepreneurs and suppliers) or open networks specially designed for CD model (NineSigma, InnoCentive, YourEncore, Yet2.com).Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Finally, the authors emphasize the rapid change of business environment which requires the use of the new model for innovation. Key points The article under analysis provides a detailed description of the use of the new model for innovation, CD model. The authors share a valuable experience of one of the largest companies in the world. It goes without saying that such a detailed and exemplary illustration of the model’s effectiveness can be very helpful for many other companies. The authors justify the effectiveness of the new model for innovation. They state that there are far too many resources outside companies, so it is but natural that companies can use those resources. However, they point out that it is impossible to create new products using the new model only as it can lead to failure. This is a very valuable tip for companies which are trying to adapt in the modern business environment. More so, Huston Sakkab (2006) stress that ideas taken from outside have been still analyzed by researchers in the labs of Procter Gamble. The authors provide particular examples when ideas were taken outside, but they were checked and developed by researchers of Procter Gamble. It is important to note that the authors comment upon each stage of the process of creating new products. Huston Sakkab (2006) outline helpful strategies of developing new products. For instance, many companies fail to implement the new model as they fail to choose the right ideas and develop new products. The authors note that it is essential to choose products which will meet top ten consumers’ needs and will ‘support’ existing products. The authors also name precise networks used by Procter Gamble. Of course, the same networks can be used by many other people interested in suggesting or acquiring various ideas. Finally, the authors highlight certain threats.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Article review â€Å"Connect and Develop: Inside Procter Gambles New Model for Innovation† specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The authors point out that it is crucial not to overestimate external sources or underestimate internal resources as ideas found outside usually need further development. Basically, the authors draw a successful pattern of the use of CD model illustrating all their arguments with particular examples. Follow-on research The new model for innovation has been discussed for at least two decades by researchers. Huston Sakkab (2006) focus on th e experience of Procter Gamble whereas Huizingh (2010) and Li Kozhikode (2009) deal with some other examples concentrating on more theoretical points. Thus, Huizingh (2010) dwells upon the essence of the notion. The author provides an analysis of the major peculiarities of the model. Interestingly, Huizingh (2010) states that there will be no such a term ‘open innovation’ (or Connect Develop model) soon as the model will be used by all companies. In other words, it will become a norm. Nonetheless, the author also stresses that although many companies used the model effectively, the further study is necessary as there are many essential phenomena to be identified. Huizingh (2010) points out that profound quantitative and qualitative research should be implemented. Li and Kozhikode (2009) also note that further study is necessary. The authors also mention several successful examples of the model implementation, but they stress that companies should be prepared to face certain threats as the strategies used by multinationals cannot be always used by smaller companies. It is important to note that Li and Kozhikode (2009) concentrate on Asian companies (and individuals) which are regarded as the main sources of outside ideas for Western companies. The researchers suggest that smaller companies should work out their own strategies using the successful experience of other companies (both multinationals and smaller companies). Li and Kzhikode (2009) focus on the implementation of the new model by multinational companies and smaller enterprises. The researchers point out threats which can both multinationals and smaller companies face. It is necessary to point out that both articles provide several successful examples of the use of the open innovation model.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Applications The article under consideration provides new insights into the process of new products development. The article depicts a successful model of new products creation. This model can be useful for many companies. The detailed analysis of the CD model provided can help companies develop their own strategies. More so, companies or even individuals can make use of the mentioned networks. Huston Sakkab (2006) also depict certain threats. For instance, the authors point out that companies should not underestimate internal resources. This is a very important observation which can be helpful for many companies. Admittedly, lots of companies fail to launch new products as they misuse successful strategies used by others. The authors comment upon every stage of the new products development using the CD model (providing helpful tips). Following that pattern companies will be able to work out their own successful strategies. The article under consideration can help companies to adap t and succeed in the contemporary rapidly changing business environment. Reference List Huizingh, E.K.R.E. (2010). Biography of Vo Nguyen Giap, Vietnamese General

Biography of Vo Nguyen Giap, Vietnamese General Vo Nguyen Giap (August 25, 1911–October 4, 2013) was a Vietnamese general who led the Viet Minh during the First Indochina War. He later commanded the Vietnam Peoples Army during the Vietnam War. Giap was the deputy prime minister of Vietnam from 1955 to 1991. Fast Facts: Vo Nguyen Giap Known For: Giap was a Vietnamese general who commanded the Vietnam Peoples Army and orchestrated the capture of Saigon. Also Known As: Red NapoleonBorn: August 25, 1911 in Lá »â€¡ Thá » §y,  French IndochinaParents: Và µ Quang Nghià ªm and Nguyá »â€¦n Thá »â€¹ Kià ªnDied: October 4, 2013 in Hanoi, VietnamEducation: Indochinese UniversitySpouse(s): Nguyen Thi Minh Giang (m. 1939–1944), Dang Bich Ha (m. 1946)Children: Five Early Life Born in the village of An Xa on August 25, 1911, Vo Nguyen Giap was the son of Và µ Quang Nghià ªm and Nguyá »â€¦n Thá »â€¹ Kià ªn. At the age of 16, he began attending a French lycà ©e in Hue but was expelled after two years for organizing a student strike. He later attended the University of Hanoi, where he earned degrees in political economy and law. After departing school, he taught history and worked as a journalist until he was arrested in 1930 for supporting student strikes. Released 13 months later, Giap joined the Communist Party and began protesting against French rule of Indochina. During the 1930s, he also worked as a writer for several newspapers. Exile and World War II In 1939, Giap married fellow socialist Nguyen Thi Quang Thai. Their marriage was brief, as he was forced to flee to China later that year following the French outlawing of communism. While in exile, his wife, father, sister, and sister-in-law were arrested and executed by the French. In China, Giap joined with Ho Chi Minh, the founder of the Vietnamese Independence League (Viet Minh). Between 1944 and 1945, Giap returned to Vietnam to organize guerilla activity against the Japanese. Following the end of World War II, the Viet Minh was given authority by the Japanese to form a provisional government. First Indochina War In September 1945, Ho Chi Minh proclaimed the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and named Giap as his interior minister. The government was short-lived, however, as the French soon returned to take control of the area. Since the French were unwilling to recognize Ho Chi Minhs government, fighting soon broke out between the French and the Viet Minh. Given command of the Viet Minhs military, Giap soon found that his men could not defeat the better-equipped French and he ordered a withdrawal to bases in the countryside. With the victory of Mao Zedongs communist forces in China, Giaps situation improved, as he gained a new base for training his men. Over the next seven years, Giaps Viet Minh forces successfully drove the French from most of North Vietnams rural areas; however, they were unable to take control of any of the regions towns or cities. At a stalemate, Giap began attacking into Laos, hoping to draw the French into battle on the Viet Minhs terms. With French public opinion swinging against the war, the commander in Indochina, General Henri Navarre, sought a quick victory. To accomplish this he fortified Dien Bien Phu, which was situated along the Viet Minhs supply lines to Laos. It was Navarres goal to draw Giap into a conventional battle where he could be crushed. To deal with the new threat, Giap concentrated all of his forces around Dien Bien Phu and surrounded the French base. On March 13, 1954, his men opened fire with newly obtained Chinese guns. Surprising the French with artillery fire, the Viet Minh slowly tightened the noose around the isolated French garrison. Over the next 56 days, Giaps troops captured one French position at a  time until the defenders were compelled to surrender. The victory at Dien Bien Phu effectively ended the First Indochina War. In the ensuing peace accords, the country was partitioned, and Ho Chi Minh became the leader of communist North Vietnam. Vietnam War In the new government, Giap served as the minister of defense and commander-in-chief of the Peoples Army of Vietnam. With the outbreak of hostilities with South Vietnam, and later the United States, Giap led North Vietnams strategy and command. In 1967, Giap helped oversee the planning for the massive Tet Offensive. Giap was initially opposed to a conventional attack; he had goals that were both military and political. In addition to achieving a military victory, Giap hoped the offensive would spark an uprising in South Vietnam and show that American claims about the wars progress were wrong. While the 1968 Tet Offensive proved to be a military disaster for North Vietnam, Giap was able to achieve some of his political objectives. The offensive showed that North Vietnam was far from being defeated and significantly contributed to changing American perceptions about the conflict. Following Tet, peace talks began, and the United States ultimately withdrew from the war in 1973. Following the American departure, Giap remained in command of North Vietnamese forces and directed General Van Tien Dung and the Ho Chi Minh campaign that finally captured the South Vietnamese capital of Saigon in 1975. Death With Vietnam reunified under communist rule, Giap remained minister of defense. After retiring, he authored several military texts, including Peoples Army, Peoples War and Big Victory, Great Task. He died on October 4, 2013, at Central Military Hospital 108 in Hanoi. Legacy Giap was much admired for his military skills, even by leaders in the West, some of whom referred to the Vietnamese general as Red Napoleon. Giap had no formal military training; nevertheless, he was able to drive the Americans to a stalemate in Vietnam and capture the city of Saigon from the South Vietnamese. Health Care Setting Essay Example

Health Care Setting Essay Example Health Care Setting Essay Health Care Setting Essay Health Care Setting In hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare settings, health educators often work one-on-one with patients and their families. They teach patients about their diagnoses and about necessary treatments or procedures. They also teach the patient about lifestyle changes that are necessary to manage the disease or to assist with recovery. Health educators direct people to outside resources, such as support groups and home health agencies and create activities and incentives to encourage the use of services by high-risk patients. Health educators in health care facilities also help organize health screenings, such as blood pressure checks, and health classes on topics such as correctly installing a car seat. Health educators may also conduct staff training to interact better with patients. I prefer this setting because you need to possess certain skills, which I believe I have or can acquire. Constantly working with patients you need to be able to respectfully communicate with them and to be able to educate them in a manner of which they can understand. I would like to change people’s health so that they may live stronger, longer lives. By working in healthcare settings I can organize and implement programs that people can follow that are beneficial to their health. If a patient is having problem with understanding a procedure, I can explain it in a simpler manner to which they can understand. If they are struggling with a diagnosed chronic disease, I would like to be able to educate the patient on how they can reduce the their problem by having a better diet, planning what to eat in that diet, controlling stress levels, and so on. I have worked in a doctor’s office before and I see how the doctors treat patients. After the patient walks out of their appointment they seem to be confused and have so many questions. Its not that the doctors don’t want to educate the patients, they just simply don’t have the time. As a heath educator I want to be able to help those patients who have questions or concerns about what risks or preventions they may have if they continue their lifestyle. In order to land a job in a healthcare setting I feel I will need to make good relations with the people I work with. Whether it be in school or in an internship, these are the people who can help me. Internships will be very helpful especially if they are already in a hospital. Sometimes job postings can also be listed online or in local advertisements.

The Influence Of Hallyu To Image Of Korea As A Tourist Destination And Dissertation

The Influence Of Hallyu To Image Of Korea As A Tourist Destination And Asian Tourists' Decision-Making - Dissertation Example The Korean Gross Domestic Product (GDP), has been appreciably enhanced due in large part to the interest exhibited by other Asian countries of the region in the quality and content of Korean presentations. The bourgeoning industries (television, movie and tourism), have combined to create a groundswell of opportunities for business, and countless opportunities for employment in all sectors. The positive affects extend far beyond the monetary and quality lf life gains. It also opens up for public scrutiny and consumption, the entire Korean culture. Television viewers and tourist, who are in most instances one in the same, are becoming keenly familiar with Korean people. The Korean Ministry of Tourism has taken a lead role in promoting and improving its country’s image in the world market. Additionally the national government has aggressively taken on projects, involving physical development, and international promotion, which promote and showcase Korean culture; Hallyuwood is a giant bold step, which is planned to be a massive (1,000,000 square meter) project with a multi-theme economic approach. There are questions and some debate whether the hallyu wave warrants such a massive outlay of public funds. The debate calls to the prudent mind that hallyu has all the trimmings of a fad, which as they customarily do, if it is only a novel occurrence the public interest will dissipate before the investors can turn the corner. The only project in Asia, which will rival this undertaking, will be Disneyland â€Å"Japan.†Consequently, it will be the only host-nationally owned theme complex in Asia.

Corporal punishment Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Corporal punishment - Essay Example Although corporal punishment’s aim is to impose discipline, parents, guardians and the like must carefully re-consider its effects on the child’s emotional, psychological, and physical well-being. In effect, corporal punishment is not an option in disciplining a child, but is basically a threat towards the child’s overall development. By definition, corporal punishment is the deliberate infliction of pain, intended to correct behavior or to punish (Wikipedia, 2006). Various efforts in support of this corporal punishment attest that such form of discipline must be considered as the pains an individual suffer early in life is translated into feelings of emotional wholeness. Children who underwent corporal punishment strive harder to reach greater goals in life. Proponents of this concept emphasize that fact that it is the most effective form of discipline, particularly for uncontrollable and unmanageable children. Delinquent children are uncontrollable simply because they think their parents do not care about whatever they do. At times, they think their actions are admissible due to their parents’ lack of interest. On the extreme side, their parents do dissuade them against harm’s way, but in effect these types of children are still unthreatened by their parents’ disciplining ways. As the end justifies the means, corporal punishment becomes the only viable solution to delinquent children or to those children who have uncontrollable behavior. Furthermore, it is the easiest way to impose and manage discipline. In addition, parents’ use of harder forms of physical punishment may have less impact on a child, as opposed to the use of emotional violence. There are children who view corporal punishment as a way to feel the love and respect of their parents. By means of spanking, children are able to perceive that their parents still care for them; hence they still spend time and attention through the discipline they impose. If
